Can You Crush Whole Cloves

The Lenz

What do you do on a beautiful Maisamstag if one with the red / 8 anyway is just in Aachen? Of course, going to Italy, where the stars stay during the day. But surely that is too far. So we go to Belgium. There is almost as nice as in Italy.

But before we make a small detour. From first to Vaals Aachen, in the direction of Maastricht on the road and then right over Wittem Wijlre and Schin op Geul to Valkenburg. Shortly before Valkenburg opens on the right road to look at Kasteel Schaloen , embedded particularly beautiful in the Dutch landscape and a short stop deserves.

Valkenburg itself is a Dutch tourist center, is correspondingly much going on. Now it is even better, towards the sea and you must pass the former monastery Chateau St. Gerlach , now converted into a hotel and restaurant with a wonderful little garden. The monastery church is being restored, but is also so very nice to see. The extensive landscaped gardens and distributed building exude a pleasantly relaxed feeling.

The path now leads the traveler to Maastricht and on the ring around Maastricht anticlockwise around to the fork in the direction of Tongeren. After a few meters behind the war memorial, diverted from the road to Tongeren then a smaller road to the left, to ride leisurely through a wide beautiful valley, continues with jug after Eben Emael (the fort from the Second World War is marked, albeit poorly, and can be visited). Even in Eben Emael turn left on the road to Lanaye and comes soon to a forest, at the edge of the lake on a small parking lot, a bank with a nice view over the Albert Canal and Eijsden on the other side - the other side of the Maas, here does not perform on the bridge. So you go and then only on the channel and then on to Nivelle and Lixhe crosses the N602 and drives through the port facilities to the N618 and then into Vise. Vise a lot of pubs on the main road but is otherwise remarkably unremarkable, actually there is no reason to stop here. So the direction of Maastricht road signposted on to Eijsden. Here it is really nice, the center is a wide cobbled street that leads directly to the Meuse. There will then be in glorious sunshine, a small beer garden, a bike ferry chugs across the Meuse, one sits in front of his house in the sun and enjoy the weekend. Further traced the journey towards a piece of Vise and then left at Mesch over after Libeek, then Mheer, Noorbeek, Sint-Martens-Voeren, De Planck, Teuven, Slenaken, epics and then you're already in Vaals and a round trip full of sun, heat and landscape has gold on Saturday. And the purring / 8 again satisfied.
